Interview with Titli

1.     Can you tell us a little about yourself? your blog , and your aspirations and your hobbies !!

The first thing you’d notice about me is how much I talk! I hate being alone with no one to talk to (though my mom says I have this innate ability to make walls talk too if I’m ever left alone!!)
After a successful 12 yr long career in the Pharmaceutical and Banking sector, I am a full time home maker, and mother to two amazing boys.

I blog at “The little princess” (www.titli15081977.blogspot.in). Someday I hope to see books authored by me flying off bookshelves (and hopefully the reason isn’t an impending earthquake or Tsunami!)

Reading, listening to music, and gardening are my hobbies. Nothing pleases me more than lounging in my hammock, amidst my plants, with a book in my hands and Kishore da crooning in the background. Ah! Divine!

             2. How you first got involved in with blogging , are you an imaginative person?

I have been writing ever since I was 14 or 15, and I had been diligently filling up every conceivable corner of every diary, book or journal that came my way. Finally the stack assumed gigantic proportions enough to replace all our clothes in the cupboard, cockroaches and termites not withstanding…So my friend suggested that I try my hand at blogging. That’s when my family heaved a sigh of relief too, as my books would no longer eat into the space meant for their clothes!! Unfortunately the roaches have been complaining of malnutrition ever since.
             3. What do you find most challenging about blogging about your topic?

I don’t see blogging as a challenge. The only thing I find challenging is my inability to type as I sleep. Sometimes there is this compulsive need to write in the middle of the night, even as my body wants to retire to bed, but my brain wants to write. On such days, I wish I could type lying down without denying both of them their individual pleasures.
              4. Tell me about some of the people you have met while working on your blog?
How does one work on the blog? If you meant, guys I met while blogging or outside of blogging, I haven’t met anyone of my blogger friends. Our interaction is all in the virtual world.

5. How would (someone) describe your blogging style?

I’m not a niche blogger, I write everything from fiction to family, poetry to parenting, humour to horror! Whatever comes to mind, basically! If I had to choose a favourite, I enjoy writing crime fiction above everything else.

6. What do you do when you are not working on your blog?

When I’m not writing I love to read, cook and make creative designs out of Kundan stones, Rangolis and Mehendi. I have a dedicated blog for each of them! I am self proclaimed, die-hard fan of Kishore Kumar, and as much as I would love to sing his songs, my vocal chords went on strike the day I was born, never to return again, and in their place left behind a poor cousin , who at best makes me sound like I’ve swallowed a hundred frogs!!

Other than that, going off on a trip with our friends is something I enjoy. We are a gang of 6 couples and 12 kids, and all of us share this love of travelling, so we often get away for the weekends, vacationing.

Tending to my plants and kids take away a chunk of my time too!

7 .Where do you see yourself blogging wise in the next 6 months, and 5 years down the road?

There’s a popular saying that goes, “If you want to make god laugh, tell him your future plans.”
So blogging wise, there are no plans. I have no intention of humoring God!! He already is guffawing away at us.
When I started blogging two years ago, I did not think I would write 150 posts in two years or have 40000 visitors on my page. But that did happen.

8. What networking do you do that you feel helps your blogging business?

If you look at my blog, you would see that it is completely a personal blog, with no business running through it. And I intend to keep it that way!
My initial post did not have a single reader for quite some time (read that as 6 months!!). And while I sat scratching my head how to go about the whole thing, a solitary reader came by. I was thrilled and then I ventured into his blog out of sheer curiosity. There I saw a lot of blogs in the comment section, and I visited all of them leaving behind comments on posts I liked. And viola!  Most of them came back visiting my blog! So it was a self taught lesson basically. Read other blogs, comment on the posts I had something to say or contribute.
Then I found the Indiblogger link on some blogger’s page and it led me to IB. I think I got many of my readers from there.
But over a period of time I realized there was a lot of irrelevant traffic on the blog, some just promoting their blogs, some of them were the ‘you scratch my back I scratch your back’ types, and some leaving comments without even bothering to read the post (we can always spot these kinds from their comments, can’t we?) and it wasn’t exactly what I wanted. But one gets to learn this with their own experiences, and I’ve come to a point now, where I just visit those blogs which I actually love to read and most of these guys read my blog. Most of them have also become good acquaintances over a period of time.

9. How do you keep coming up with material/content for your blog? Many people struggle with coming up with different articles/posts and they only have one blog.

With a person who can talk nineteen to a dozen, there is usually no dearth of topics! The people around me are more cheerful now that I have stopped bothering them a little with my incessant chatter. It’s the blog that gets a huge portion of thoughts that my head churns out!
The other blogs are about my experiments in the kitchen, my experiments with my camera and the creative side of me (rangolis, kundan et al). Everything is an extension of me, so there’s so real effort, because there’s no pressure to perform.

10. What’s your strategy with your blog in general?

There’s no strategy. I write because my head is too small to hold the million thoughts that swarm it. Besides that there’s nothing I strategize.

11. Any specific tips you have for newbie bloggers who want to make it in the blogosphere?

If there’s one thing that puts me off, it’s the bad grammar and spelling mistakes in a post. MS word is generous enough to point that out to you, so it beats me, why anyone would want to showcase a poorly edited post to the world? So I’d say, take the pain to edit your post because if you do not think it’s important enough to be read again and corrected by you, why should anyone else bother to read it in the first place?
Secondly, write from the heart, and write what you want to write, not what you think others want to read. People visit you for your uniqueness, for the content you churn out, and not for being someone else.
And lastly, when you visit someone else’s blog treat it with the same respect you would like them to accord to your blog, be it while commenting sensibly or not spamming their space.

12. What would you prioritize? Content? SEO? Traffic? Readers?

To me, Content is of utmost importance as are the Readers. If someone is investing their time reading my blog, I better learn to value their time by writing good content. And a great blog would still be worth nothing if there are no readers to appreciate it.
Traffic, like I said before in question 8 above, is mostly irrelevant.  I would rather have dedicated readers than heavy traffic comprising of people, who hardly spend a couple of minutes of my blog.
Since I’m not a niche blogger, my blog might hardly ever get picked up by search engines.

13. What’s the best thing a blogger can give to his readers?

 Entertainment…. Entertainment…. Entertainment!! i.e If it’s a personal blog.

14. A lot of people are interested in blogging for the money earning potential. What are some tips for people interesting in making money from blogging? What are some realistic expectations in regards to what can be made?

Like I said before, I intend to keep my blog free of being a business venture. I don’t look at my blog as a business. I did not start it to make money out of it. My blog is my space, and would like it to remain that way.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with guys who want to make money from their blogs, but let the money making not eat into your creativity and the love of writing. If the main intention of the blog is money making, well, then I can hardly contribute with my non-existent expertise here!

15. What motivates you most in life?

The dream to author a book one day keeps me motivated enough to keep writing and keep improving my skills.

16. What has been your strategy for creating visibility to yourself and your blog?

I don’t know if it qualifies to be called a strategy, but I’d say, visiting other blogs, commenting on their posts, posting a link to Facebook, Indiblogger and twitter occasionally. I don’t frequently take part in contests, because writing for a prompt is my nemesis. I’d rather be free to write what I want to write. But yes, I have taken part in some of them and it does increase your blog visibility tremendously.

17 What was the most challenging moment in your blog content development process and why?

I do not have an IT background. So though blogger is usually quite friendly, I still have to struggle if I encounter something new. Luckily, some of my blogger friends bail me out each time. You will see that my blog is as simple as it can get!

18. Everyone has a favorite/least favorite post. Name yours and why?

My favourite post is “The heart break” (http://titli15081977.blogspot.in/2013/05/heart-break.html) This was for a contest and it won me the first place, but that’s not the only reason why it’s my favorite. I was shopping with my mom when I came up with the idea for this post, and I remember running home immediately afterwards and writing it in one sitting. It was almost like the post wrote itself! I remember feeling quite smug after I wrote this. The prize was the cherry on the cake.
I don’t have a least favourite. Those are the ones that are still in draft stage on my PC. If I am not satisfied they don’t reach the blog.

19. Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why?

Sriramana Muliya, who blogs at “Malignant Humour in my Head” under the pen name “phatichar”, Suresh, who blogs at “Life is like this”, Shilpa, who blogs at “A rose is a rose is a rose”, Panchali, who blogs at “Panchalibolchi”.  There is a lot of honesty in each of their writings.
Sriramana helped me polish my writing skills. If you look at my earliest posts, the presentation was very amateurish. He helped me hone my skills. I regard him my mentor.
Suresh on the other hand is a total genius when it comes to humour. (Psst…I have been secretly tutoring at his blog, learning to write humour. )
Shilpa and Panchali are so good with the written word, prose and poetry respectively, that it inspires me to write better.

20. What is the story behind the name of the blog.

I wrote random stuff and could not call myself a niche writer. And since I had intended it to be a personal blog, I didn’t have to bother about giving it a fancy or appropriate name. So when it came to naming the blog, I decided on naming it - "The Little Princess". That's what dad calls me.....his little princess and being daddy's little girl, it sounded perfect to me. That my stories are more female oriented happens to be a coincidence!! And yes, that they sound like a fairy tale, is even more!!

21. your connection with any Blogger Network Like Indiblogger or Writeupcafe or any other and the experience ?

I stumbled upon IB at a fellow bloggers page, and it gave me a perfect medium to showcase my blogs. I have not been too active participating in the contests, but again writing for a prompt is not my cup of tea at all! But I do hope to be part of an indiblogger meet someday and meet some of these lovely bloggers.

I got on board Writeup café as a part of the ongoing IBL( Indian bloggers league) and as part of Team Central India. We were a team of 25 members and coordinating with the team, cruising along the contest and reaching the finals, has been one unforgettable experience. To top it, my entries at the quarter final and semifinal rounds garnered maximum votes by the judges. The results of the final are awaited.

22. Which genre do you feel gets the raw deal?

As such, I think, people don’t read long posts, whichever genre they might belong to, maybe except humour. The time spent on someone’s blog is hardly 2-4 minutes. So after writing reams of fiction, it is difficult to get readership for it.   And for someone like me who thrives on writing fiction, my stories usually run into a few thousand words. I find it difficult to write in brief. But all said and done, I continue to write my mammoth posts because I want to write them any which way!

23.Which one plugin would you suggest all bloggers to have?

I wouldn’t know if an elephant ran amok into my blog!

24.Five adjectives that describe you.

Emotional- That side of me reflects in my writing too!!
Talkative
Optimistic
Friendly
Fun loving (read that as prankster!)

25. What book would you say has made the biggest impact good or bad on you?

Just like I want a blog to provide entertainment, entertainment and entertainment, I read a book for the same reason too. I read books till I enjoy reading them. I don’t carry back messages. I read mainly fiction, so the only impact it has is, on my style of writing.

26.Do you get easily provoked by positive/negative comments ??

Provoked? No.  While positive comments excite me, negative comments make me ruminate. On hindsight, I don’t remember reading a negative comment on my posts so far… But like I told you my mentor has always pointed out what can be bettered in my stories. I have learnt so many things, like how not to rush an ending, just because the story is getting too long, how not to crowd a story with italics… and as a newbie writer, it always helps to take suggestions in the positive way. And if it is coming from a master story teller and accomplished writer, and helps to improve your writing, doesn’t it make sense to learn the nuances than think yourself to be invincible or know-all?

27.Do you plan to write a book, as every bloggers dream it is ?

Yes, I do. That’s something that would satisfy me no ends. To see my name in print.

28.Are you a judgmental person , Do you prefer to take sides instead of standing neutral ?

I was like that before. But now as a mother to two boys, I have learnt not to be judgmental. I cannot afford to take sides, because you know how it is with kids!! They will make you listen to their point of view and you are forced to take a neutral stand on the issue!!!
That part of me has also extended to all other spheres and I find myself increasing tolerant, neutral and non-judgmental of most people around me.

29. Your collaboration with other bloggers , are you much into social networking , tell us everything about it ?

I did an Ulimate Blog Challenge in the month of July. We wrote a post for every day of the month. That brought me in touch with a lot of bloggers. The IBL at Write Up café too was one such opportunity. As co-captain for the Central India Team, coordinating between the team members, getting consensus on posts, etc was a huge challenge!

30.What genre attracts you the most and which genre you avoid ?

Fiction, mainly crime thrillers and romance and humour is what I love to read and write. IT and pre dominantly educative ones, like pertaining to specific subjects, I avoid.

31.Your Views on Contests and increasing plagiarism ?
Contests are an excellent platform to know other bloggers and to let them know you and your blog. It also helps you stretch your creativity and fosters competitive spirit. But for some strange reason, I have this typical anti-contest mindset, because I think I just cannot write on a given prompt!!! At least not before the deadline! Once someone gives me a topic and a deadline, I find that I can no longer write on it!!

Plagiarism is cowardly. If you cannot write, and you have picked it up from somewhere, at least mention the source and give the rightful author his due credit. People reading you are not fools, they would know it is plagiarized. Why would you knowingly demean yourself and lose respect in your community?

32. Words for me and my blog .?

I came to your blog quite late, in fact only after we got in touch. However I have read a few of your writings, and liked the poem “Ah I wish!” , the hindi one- “kya sabko..” and “The final goodbye”.  There’s certain honesty in your writings, and that’s the first thing I notice when I read a blog. Keep doing the good work. All the best!

Interview with CHLOE THURLOW, novelist and blogger

by Rahul Miglani

http://www.mymagicjobs.com/
http://www.mymagicjobs.com/
1.Can you tell us a little about yourself? your blog , and your aspirations and your hobbies .
At Cambridge I came under the hand of a strict tutor who seduced my mind. After giving me books by Anais Nin, the Marquis de Sade and Georges Bataille, he persuaded me to write an erotic short story, which was published in a literary magazine. Thus, the tiller on my boat was set and I have sailed far and wide across the seas of erotica ever since.

2.How you first got involved in with blogging , are you an imaginative person?
My brother, who is always rude to me, told me that I must blog as well as write. Naturally, he was right. He broadens the imagination by taking you off across new tangents and my blog has started to get many hits every day.

3.What do you find most challenging about blogging about your topic?
Being totally original. If something sounds familiar – if you think: that's good enough. It is a sign: it is not good enough. You must work harder.

4.Tell me about some of the people you have met while working on your blog?
The person I regularly meet is Bradley, my web guy. He is 22 years old, an internet genius and he would like to exchange his work for a date, which is not going to happen.

5.How would (someone) describe your blogging style?
Lyrical, poetic, elegiac – I try to write as if each word is a precious drop of blood, or a tear to be saved in a glass phial.

6.       What do you do when you are not working on your blog?
I write my novels. I am living in Spain at present house-sitting. Working other than with my pen doesn't suit me.

7 .Where do you see yourself blogging wise in the next 6 months, and 5 years down the road?
I would like to have a following as big as Mahatma Gandhi when he went on his first salt march and I would like to thrill my readers with exquisite prose. In 5 years, I would like to be doing what I am doing today. Happiness is finding your path and sticking to it.

8.What networking do you do that you feel helps your blogging business?
I network through FaceBook and Twitter, also Pinterest, where I post photographs, some of me, though I don't say which.

9.How do you keep coming up with material/content for your blog? Many people struggle with coming up with different articles/posts and they only have one blog.

I struggle too and mix original thought with excerpts from my novels as well as tips from my writing guide, "The Fifty Shades of Grey Phenomena."

10.What's your strategy with your blog in general?
To keep on keeping on.

11.Any specific tips you have for newbee bloggers who want to make it in the blogosphere?
Work. Be original. Never give up.

12.What would you prioritize? Content? SEO? Traffic? Readers?
No. That is too much thinking and the best writing comes from the heart.

13.What's the best thing a blogger can give to his readers?
A glimpse of his or her world, your passions, intuitions, your joys as well as your fears.

14.A lot of people are interested in blogging for the money earning potential. What are some tips for people interesting in making money from blogging? What are some realistic expectations in regards to what can be made?
I have absolutely no idea. I blog as part of a long term career and want people to enjoy my writing and read my books,. If money comes, it comes. I don't think about it.

15.What motivates you most in life?
This is virtually impossible to answer. I am motivated by a beautifully constructed sentence; moonlight on the sea; being a passenger in a car driving through the countryside, the light flickering over the windscreen; the swallows flying in patterns over the village where I am living in Spain as the sun goes down.

16.What has been your strategy for creating visibility to yourself and your blog?
I work with little strategy and a belief in destiny. I write, I network a bit on FaceBook and hope people enjoy my work and recommend it. I love it when people comment on my blog, this is inspiration for me.

17.Five adjectives that describe you.
Fastidious, in work, careless in life; moody, but potentially happy;  discontented with nothing to be discontented about; beautiful on good days,  a mere shadow on others.

18.What book would you say has made the biggest impact  good or bad on you?
"A Spy in the House of Love," by Anais Nin, opened my mind to the potential of writing literary erotica and "The Unbearable Lightness of Being," by Milan Kundera, showed me how every word must carry its own weight in a piece of prose and that when you start writing a new book you should try to write a masterpiece.

19.Do you get easily provoked by positive/negative comments ??
I used top hate negative comments on my blog and in reviews of my books, but have come to see that, if you hold yourself up as an artist, a writer, this is a part you must come to terms with. I try to see a little positive in the most negative comment. At least the writer has been sufficiently moved to comment.

20.Are you a judgmental person . Do you prefer to take sides instead of standing neutral?
I try to be neutral, it is the writer's role, but have been moved politically since the world financial crisis and feel the urge to take a more active part in putting wrongs to right. I believe we have come to the end of democratic politics as we have known it for the last 100 years and need a new system in which to care for all people –the poor, as well as the rich and fortunate.

21.Your Views on Contests and increasing plagiarism ?
Plagiarism has been with us since time began and competitions I find rather silly because how to you judge one piece of writing against another. I avoid competitions and avoid plagiarism, too.

22.Words for me and my blog ?
The world is awash in words. Anyone can set up a blog and self-publish a book. Texts and advertising fall upon us like monsoon rains. With the floodtide of news bites, jingles and promos, the value of the word is diminished and writers, like ancient priests, are obliged to maintain a purity, a simplicity. Good writing is easy reading. Bad writing shouts at you from the page.

Interview with C.S (Life is Like This)

1. Can you tell us a little about yourself? your blog , and your aspirations and your hobbies !!
I am one of those rare beings born with that capability to be happy when absolutely idle but unfortunately not born with the wherewithal to do so. Which is why I had to work my way through chemical engineering and then an IIM MBA and take up employment for nearly 18 years before I could quit and loll around in bed at ease.
I love reading and music – to the extent that I even think I can write and sing. Naturally, the former illusion brought me to blogging (at Life is Like This) and the latter is a source of great despair to all my friends. I am quite content to be who I am – and aspirations are for people who feel a lack that they need to fill. But, yes, I do lazily dream of being a published author some day and, who knows, I may inflict a novel or so on the unsuspecting world.
2. How you first got involved in with blogging , are you an imaginative person?
I started blogging in 2009 primarily to keep some memories of my own travels. The problem was that blogging without readers is much like talking to yourself – you sort of get bored with your own company. Having no idea of blog integrators and the like and finding that I was my only reader I stopped blogging the same year. In 2012, someone suggested Indiblogger and I started blogging again in real earnest. The fact that I do have a few readers keeps me going not to mention the friends I made in the process.
Of course, I consider myself an imaginative person. The fact that I can imagine myself as being capable of writing and singing is sufficient proof of how imaginative I am.
3. What do you find most challenging about blogging about your topic?
There is nothing specific about my topic as such since I write about any passing thought that strikes my mind. My only challenge arises out of the fact that thinking up a post does not automatically put it on the blog. I actually have to type it in and for a lazy bum like me it seems like too much work.
4. Tell me about some of the people you have met while working on your blog?
Uh! Firstly please do not say ‘working’ – the moment I start thinking of it as work I would hate to continue blogging. You have no idea how much I hate working.
Secondly, I have not met anyone in order to be able to write on my blog. It is not like I do research for what I write.
There are lots of people whom I have met, interacted with and become friends with as a consequence of being a blogger. These are the interactions that have made blogging far more of a pleasure than the writing alone. In Bangalore I have met a lot of bloggers – The Fool, Leo, Farida Rizwan, Nabanita, Rachna, Navin, Sibichen, BS Santosh to name but a few – and we meet regularly in Indimeets as well as otherwise.
Recently, in Delhi a few bloggers made the heart-warming effort to arrange a meet and I had the pleasure of meeting Rickie, Ruchira and Ritu Lalit. Akanksha, who initiated the idea, unfortunately was sent to the UK officially.
Besides the people I met personally there are quite a few who I interact with through blogs  and I treasure all of them.
5. How would (someone) describe your blogging style?
Ah! I think people recognize me for humor mainly – though some of my serious pieces and serious fiction have also been appreciated.
6. What do you do when you are not working on your blog?
I do not work. On a daily basis, I normally read books, listen to music and watch old movies. I periodically go on treks – including an annual trek to the Himalayas, periodically visit places of sculptural interest and go to chennai in December for the Classical Music season.
7 .Where do you see yourself blogging wise in the next 6 months, and 5 years down the road?
I have never set goals for myself for anything – except the only goal of retiring around 40 which I have achieved. I am the sort of person who likes to enjoy himself doing what he is doing and, for me, setting a goal creates an anxiety about achieving it that kills all the joy of the moment.
8. What networking do you do that you feel helps your blogging business?
Huh! Omit that ‘business’ word – you make it feel like blogging is work. It is mainly play for me.
The networking I did was primarily to gain a readership. After all, if I were content with reading my own output I would maintain a personal diary and not a blog. I started out reading and commenting on other’s blogs, participating in blogging contests etc. Now I read blogs and comment primarily for pleasure and have practically stopped participation in blogging contests.
There are other things that I do which may constitute networking which helps my blog readership. I do it, however, for the pleasure it gives me and any benefit to my blog is irrevelant to me. Attending Indimeets, chats on Forum etc. do get me recognition and visibility but that is secondary to the friendships I make.
9. How do you keep coming up with material/content for your blog? Many people struggle with coming up with different articles/posts and they only have one blog.
Actually, I can happily write about anything – even how difficult it is for me to get up in the morning. In fact one of my latest post is about the single phrase “Good Morning”.
I, too, have only one blog by the way.
10. Whats your strategy with your blog in general?
You strategize only when you set goals.  My blog is a space where I have fun writing and, hopefully, people have fun reading.
11. Any specific tips you have for newbie bloggers who want to make it in the blogosphere?
Not really. Only those people can give tips who have goals and strategies. I can say two things, however, and primarily for personal bloggers because I am one. If you do not enjoy what you are doing – prose, poetry, photography whatever – do not blog. If you like readership and comments, you need first to read and comment yourself. Genius does not shine automatically from the URL of a blog – you need to have someone to click on it and get inside before they can see your abilities. And, how do they even get to know your blog exists unless you let them know? And, reading and commenting on their blogs also lets them and, possibly, their readers get a feel of your views and writing style.
12. What would you prioritize? Content? SEO? Traffic? Readers?
I did not quite get this. I mean I put out content and do SEO in order to get readers, right? And what is the difference between Traffic and Readers? Traffic includes bots and people who come in by mistake and jump out?
For me, yes, I’d say content. SEO I am unlikely to be able to do since what I write is not what people generally are likely to search and find. My humor does not lean to satire nor are most of my posts informative. And, yes, I prefer readers to traffic.
13. Whats the best thing a blogger can give to his readers?
In a personal blog I’d say pleasure and, maybe sometimes, insight.
14. A lot of people are interested in blogging for the money earning potential. What are some tips for people interesting in making money from blogging? What are some realistic expectations in regards to what can be made?
Not me. I quit my job when I was in middle management because I did not like working so why would I convert my blogging into a form of work? I mean, it would be like refusing to pick rupee note bundles off the table and, then, scrounging around in the dirt for small change.
I am a personal blogger and I can talk only about personal blogging. If you do what you like doing in your blog and, as a consequence, you also get some money by posting ad.s or whatever, fine. If, instead, you have to think and labor at trying to make money from the blog, you are better off putting in that effort elsewhere. At least that way blogging will still be fun for you.
15. What motivates you most in life?
Motivates me to do what? I am lazy and I do not really want to do anything.
16. What has been your strategy for creating visibility to yourself and your blog?
I think I mentioned it before – reading and commenting on other blogs, blog contests, Facebook. With that 140 character limit, my being far less smart than the modern phones and all, twitter is out for me.
17 What was the most challenging moment in your blog content development process and why?
There has seldom been a ‘process’ in my blog content development. I just write what comes in my mind. The only time I really put in an effort on my blog was when I created an index for it.
18. Everyone has a favorite/least favorite post. Name yours and why?
Actually, I think my “Marketing Battles” series is my best till date. It is a series of 8 posts and is a spoof history of the development of Marketing management – and the concepts of marketing management I use there are real concepts, so it is a sort of sugar-coated primer of Marketing management as well.
Least favorite? Hmmm! Actually, though I do try to make them interesting, most of my posts informing my absence from the blogging world like “Out of town” are not quite my favorites.
19. Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why?
I like a lot of bloggers, admire a lot of bloggers and am friendly with a lot. But, since childhood, I have never had role models. So, I cannot really say that I look up to any blogger.
20. What is the story behind the name of the blog.
Ah! The day I decided to start a blog I went and tried all the names I could think of and found that all of them were taken. Absolutely irritated by this repeated failure, I decided to pick on something very obscure and see if even that was taken. In the Sanskrit shlokas, they describe the location of the world in an island called “Jambudweepam” (Wiki will give you details under Jambudvipa). I tried it out and it worked! So, now, I am stuck with it.
21. your connection with Indiblogger and the experience ?
Getting on Indiblogger is what made me actively blog and if I at all have a handful of readers it is thanks to them. I love the Indimeets for the opportunity to meet fellow-bloggers and, obviously Inditalk is where I made friends like you, TF, Leo and Animesh. The contests were fun for as long as I participated and I even won a few consolation prizes.
22.Which genre do you feel gets the raw deal?
Mine, of course. To be specific, Self-deprecatory humor. Tech and Travel bloggers may have their pieces shared for information. Opinion blogs and Satire may also get a few posts shared due to common interest. Humor about Society, even, get shared. Ever heard of any self-deprecatory post shared? I mean even if by a miracle I manage to make you laugh your heart out by making fun of myself do you feel the need to tell your friend “Hey! Look at how this guy is poking fun at himself?” and give him the link of that post? Poor Me! I need to work really hard to get new people to read me J.
23.Which one plugin would you suggest all bloggers to have?
When you find it, let me know.
24.Five adjectives that describe you.
Lazy, Indolent, Slothful, laid-back, dreamy.
You can understand how much I hated having to slog through so many questions.
25.What book would you say has made the biggest impact  good or bad on you?
I read books for fun – not for learning. I really do not think that I have learnt any life lessons from one single book.
Yes – way back in History when I still had the misconception about becoming a better person I did read an English translation of the ‘Bhagvad Gita’ and I suppose a lot of my life-view comes from that. Please do not understand that to mean that I am saying that the Gita propagates laziness J
26.Do you get easily provoked by positive/negative comments ??
Very much indeed. I even wrote a post “On criticism on blogs” because I got truly irritated by some negative comments. As a commenter, I like to make people happy and, thus, if I cannot say anything positive I just silently get out. If it is a blogger whom I am friends with and I think a criticism will help him/her I try to give it in private. Putting it on the blog is like a public criticism which would seem an insult. Where I do not know the blogger I do not presume – after all you do not tap a stranger on the shoulder and start offering critical advice.
My experience is that most people who do criticize on blogs either want to show off their own acumen rather than help the blogger or, even, like handing out unhappiness. The very fact of handing out a negative opinion in public is a form of arrogance – that you know better than the blogger – particularly when it comes to differences of opinion rather than errors of fact. Of course, more often than not it is immaturity rather than active arrogance or rudeness but, I am afraid, I have little patience with immaturity as well.
A form of immaturity is also there in positive comments. I have had people comment “Good work. Keep it up”. ‘Keep it up’ is something a teacher tells a student and for a teenager to be telling a 50 year old that is the heights of immaturity. Yes, some positive comments also can irritate.
27.Do you plan to write a book , as every bloggers dream it is ?
I do dream of writing one – and more than one – and whether it will be a daydream or a reality remains to be seen.
28.Are you a judgmental person , Do you prefer to take sides instead of standing neutral ?
I am judgmental, in a way. I do not judge or criticize people on the basis of how they lead their lives. But, in their behavior with other people including me, I certainly have some set standards for the mores of behavior. If those are transgressed I do take sides.
29. Your collaboration with other bloggers , are you much into social networking , tell us everything about it ?
I suppose you do know of the Indifictionworkshop which I co-founded with The Fool for honing fiction-writing talent. Other than that I have a Facebook page for my blog and am desultorily active on Facebook.
I regularly meet a few Bangalore bloggers – but I prefer to see that as socializing rather than Social networking. That word ‘networking’ converts – for me – a warm human relationship into a cold business relationship.
30.What genre attracts you the most and which genre you avoid ?
Humor attracts – you write what you love to read. Tech, I cannot understand.
31.Your Views on Contests and increasing plagiarism ?
I have no set views on contests. All my contest posts are posts that can stand beside any of my other posts. So, I believe that writing for contests is not necessarily ‘selling your art’ or any such thing. I never aimed for the prizes and seldom bothered to assess relative worth of posts – so I have no comments on the judging.
Obviously I hate Plagiarism. It is people of little self-respect who try to achieve popularity or earn money by stealing other people’s work.
32.Words for me and my blog .?

You write from your heart. Continue to enjoy writing.

Rahul Miglani : Thanks CS for the opportunity to talk to you , you are my favorite humor based writer , Sarcasm is a lost art and you are an artist.
