Interview with Nehali Lalwani

1. Can you tell us a little about yourself, and your aspirations and your hobbies!!

I’m Nehali Lalwani, Asst. Professor by profession and a writer by heart. I have completed my B.com honors, Diploma in Labor Practices and Masters of human Resource Management.
I’m a big dreamer and an aspiring writer.
I simply love to pen down my sentiments and feelings in form of poetry and quotes. I believe it is zeal; an urge; something that gives me an opportunity to express myself and my views. I basically write when I’m happy; when I’m furious or when any issue strokes my heart.
I have fine collection of poems and short stories on different emotional genres. My short stories are published in Kaleidoscope by Parlance Publishers, 2 poems got published in Moods and moments- Poetry book by Writers Empire, Syahi as a Writer and Co Editor, A Night in paradise – Omji publishing house, Minds @ work 2 – First step publishingways, You me and Zindagi – Omji publishing house and few more are slated to be published in the first half of this year.
Besides all I love to read love stories and listening Music in her spare time.
You can definitely contact me at: https://www.facebook.com/nehalilalwani

2. How you first got involved in with writing, are you an imaginative person?

Well, this one of my favorite question to answer. Yes I’m a big day dreamer.  I perceive my dreams as my major possessions. They simply prompt me to believe in myself.Basically I write inspiring quotes and sometimes poems too..
Umm.. Exactly even I do not know when did I got indulged into writing, I use to pen down inspirational quotes and poems during college days and with the passage of time I started reading diverse authors from there I just got fascinated towards writing. I than wrote stories (Basically which gives some positive lesson or motivates you to do better in your life) and they luckily got selected.

3. What do you find most challenging about writing about your topic?

Well to be honest I think writing something directly from your heart will never ever be a challenging task. To be frank, I have never taken writing as a profession/business, I scribble my views and observation in form of poetries, stories and quotes which gives me a sense of contentment.
But yes while writing short stories & to stick upon to the “WORDCOUNT” provided to us, is the most challenging task I believe. To explain our outlook with some proficient touch with restricted words, is definitely something not so easy task.

4. Tell me about some of the people you have met from writing world?

I have not met many writers and bloggers in real,  I have met (My fellow writers at Kaleidoscope) Vivek banerjee, Bhavya Kaushik, Shishir Dhingra, Prabhat Singh, Khushi Gupta, Shilpi Dutta, Ayush Agarwal, Neoni Dsouza and Salli Shah.

5. How would (someone) describe your writing style?

Tough question, well it totally depends on the person reading it. I personally believe my writing is all about positivity, my only motive behind writing stories nowadays is A reader should flip a page without searching for a dictionary (Well jokes Apart) A reader should be smiling while he ends up with my story that’s all.

6. What do you do when you are not writing?

As I mentioned earlier I’m Asst professor by profession.  Rest I like to read (My favorite genres are Romance and horror) and I spend time with my family and friends as much as I can.

7 .Where do you see yourself writing wise in the next 6 months, and 5 years down the road?

Being a gigantic Day dreamer, I have a dream of coming up my with my favorite project in next few months that’s my novel, and I wish and I think I will develop myself as a writer and poet in future.

8. What networking do you do that you feel helps your writing business?

Umm…  I’m connected with Face book, Linkedin and Goodreads but that is just to be in contact with my friends, writers and readers.
Social networking has helped me a lot to know different authors personally, but promoting a book on Fb or Twitter and expecting to be it a Best Seller, I reli don’t think so it helps out anyway.
I personally don’t feel one can do any business on social networking sites.

9. How do you keep coming up with content/ ideas for your stories? Many people struggle with coming up with different ideas.
Interesting question, I mostly write my own experiences and I comprise the incidents which I observe or listen from my near and dear ones in form of stories and quotes.

10. What’s your strategy with your writing in general?

Write for your own satisfaction and not just to impress others, at the end of the day when you read your own words you yourself should feel good about it. This is my strategy and I hope it helps others too.

11. Any specific tips you have for newbie writers who want to make it in the writing world?

Funny question! I consider myself as a Newbie in writing world.

12. What’s the best thing a writer can give to his readers?

A reason to smile or a reason to live and lead a positive life along with plentiful encouraging thoughts to reach up to their dreams.

14. A lot of people are interested in writing for the money earning potential. What are some tips for people interesting in making money from writing? What are some realistic expectations in regards to what can be made?

Writing for money is not wrong at all. Most people write because it’s their zeal and few write because it’s their option of earning.
The only advice or suggestion to them is keep participating in different contests held by good publishers as they pay writers for their stories or one can also try for content writing and lastly keep experimenting with different genres that will actually enhance your potential as a writer.

15. What motivates you most in life?

Preeti shenoy’s book – Life is what you make it, Ravinder Singh’s book – Stories that touched my Heart, The Namesake - Jhumpa Lahiri, and The Secret - Rhonda Byrne these are few of the books which have inspired me to write, prove myself and my potential.
And I must congratulate for the wonderful work you are doing by interviewing different people and giving them chance to share their opinions honestly.

My Dreams and my faith in them, my Parents who supported me in each every phase of my life and all those  people who told me that I’m good for nothing.

16. What has been your strategy for creating visibility to yourself and your writing?

Not any such strategy I have ever used to be in lime light, I never write to earn fame. I write for myself and my family who loves to see my name in Index Column of the Book.

18. Everyone has a favorite/least favorite post. Name yours and why?

My story featured in an anthology Kaleidoscope by Parlance Publishers is my most favorite one.

Sorry but I don’t have any least favorite work because I simply love what I scribble down.

19. Name some of the writers whom you look up to and why?

Authors I personally know, respect and admire are Vivek Banerjee, Prateek Singh, Bhavya Kaushik, Preeti Singh, Arpita Ghosh and few more.

No, never!  Whosoever, reads your work have some or the other expectations from it.
It is not practically possible to reach up to their expectations every time. Moreover, I feel perceptions differ. Some might find it mesmerizing while some find it a crap.. I respect their individual opinions, but then It doesn’t provoke me anyhow.

27. Do you plan to write a book, as every bloggers dream it is?

Yes, I am working on my novel. Its title is “Feelings… Still remaining” I’m planning to come up with it in next few months.
Fingers crossed.

Nope! I don’t think I’m judgmental, but yes if an individual is my friend I would absolutely take his/her side.
Additionally it totally depends on the situation.

30. What genre attracts you the most and which genre you avoid?

I love to read Romance and Horror. I personally don’t like much of History and Science fiction.

31. Your Views on Contests and increasing plagiarism?

I feel the writing industry has totally lost its charm, Publishers are doing nothing but purely business in course of earning money plus they obviously be bias while selecting writers.
I personally love to participate in contests.
Contests, if conducted appropriately can persuade writers to do better.

32. Words for me and my blogs Desire v/s Destiny and Blogger Interviews and my Website www.MyMagicJobs.com

I came across your blog before a week, when you published an interview of a very good friend of mine. I have explored it a bit, and I read few of the interviews you conducted, I of course want to thank you for that for providing me this opportunity to share my views on your blog.

33. On winning the Award/s , Are they Really necessary.

Nope! I don’t wish to win any such award for my writing, I write for my own satisfaction and happiness and if any day I get a mail or a message saying I got inspired from your any of the quotes or story I feel that would be the biggest award I can ever receive.

Interview with the national bestselling author of the novel, The Other Side of the Bed

1. Can you tell us a little about yourself ,your blog, and your aspirations and your hobbies!!
I’m a national bestselling author of the novel, The Other Side of the Bed, a contributing author at Kaleidoscope, and a computer science research scholar. I have been blogging for the past 7 years and my blog, Walking Barefoot on Broken Glass (http://bhavyakaushik.com) is a two year old blog at Tumblr where I ramble (a lot) about almost everything. I like to write, read and travel a lot!

2. How you first got involved in with blogging, are you an imaginative person?
I first got involved with blogging via writerscafe, almost seven years ago and then there was no looking back. Am I an imaginative person? Uhm, I don’t know exactly. I think my readers can answer this question in a better way :)

3. What do you find most challenging about blogging about your topic?
Frankly speaking, I do not find it challenging at all. According to me, if someone is finding it hard (or challenging) to blog about their passion, then they should give up with their blog altogether.

4. Tell me about some of the people you have met while working on your blog?
I have met some of the most amazing people during my blogging experience – some of the most amazing writers who have now become my friends. I was able to write my debut novel because of their encouragement. I won’t pinpoint and name a few people, because I know I will forget a couple of them in the process. Nevertheless, I know that I have an extended family of writers out there!

5. How would (someone) describe your blogging style?
I think my blogging, not only blogging – but writing style in general, is very personal and intriguing. I always try to add some or other person touch in my posts which makes it easier for my readers to relate to me.

6. What do you do when you are not working on your blog?
I’m a research scholar, so I study and write codes during weekdays. I’m also working on my next novel, which keeps me busy all the time!

7 .Where do you see yourself blogging wise in the next 6 months, and 5 years down the road?
I don’t have any goals or agendas related to my blog. I’m blogging just for myself (yes, I’m selfish with this one). I already have a domain and ample amount of followers (Thank God!). So, wherever life will take me and my blog in the next five or ten years, I would be happy with it!

8. What networking do you do that you feel helps your blogging business?
I follow and comment on the blogs I like to read, a lot! Also, browsing through various blogs listed at Tumblr and Indiblogger is my favorite pastime. I think it helped me a lot to develop a faithful reader-base.

9. How do you keep coming up with material/content for your blog? Many people struggle with coming up with different articles/posts and they only have one blog.
I maintain three active blogs and I agree, sometimes even I struggle to post fresh material on all of them. But I always try to pour my heart out with my writings, especially when I post them on my primary blog. I think the quality of our posts should matter. A good single post is worth of some ten average posts.

10. Whats your strategy with your blog in general?
I experiment a lot with my posts and always try to come up with new stuff. I never restrict my blog to just poetry or photography or write-ups about a specified topic. I just write what I feel about!

11. Any specific tips you have for newbie bloggers who want to make it in the blogosphere?
I see a lot of bloggers, especially the new ones who want to gain readers overnight, or would like to post only for contests. The way I see it, is that if you are blogging to gain followers or to win a contest or two, then you are doing it the wrong way. Just be a good writer first, and then think about all these secondary things.

12. What would you prioritize? Content? SEO? Traffic? Readers?
Honestly, I never think so much before posting something. But among all these points, I prioritize my content the most.

13. Whats the best thing a blogger can give to his readers?
Hope. The best thing any writer can give to his/her readers is hope – hope to live, hope to strive for a dream. I maintain another blog which is based on anti-depression and bullying. Every time, I receive even an anonymous message from someone thanking me, and saying that because of me they didn’t give me, makes it all worth it!

14. A lot of people are interested in blogging for the money earning potential. What are some tips for people interesting in making money from blogging? What are some realistic expectations in regards to what can be made?
I do not write or blog for instance to get anything in return. So, I do not think that I’m the right person to answer this question. But according to me, if you are writing for anything except your passion – then you should not write at all!

15. What motivates you most in life?
Every day, after waking up – I go to my balcony and I see the sunrise. That feeling of being alive, of being together and most importantly of being together in one piece makes me content. It is a very strange emotion which cannot be elucidated in words. But it inspires me, not only to write, but also to be a better person.

16. What has been your strategy for creating visibility to yourself and your blog?
I share my stuff at various online portals and promote it a lot to gain visibility.

17 What was the most challenging moment in your blog content development process and why?
I haven’t faced any challenging moment as of yet! If I will face something like that in prospect, I will surely let you know!

18. Everyone has a favorite/least favorite post. Name yours and why?
Ah! There are a lot actually. To name one, I would say one of my poems – Forever Gone, Forever You, will remain my favorite which I wrote for my grandpa.
My least favorite would be a post which I wrote for a contest. I deleted it afterwards though!

19. Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why?
I look up to a couple of bloggers actually. To name a few, I would say - Pankti, Ekta, Karthik, Aayesha, Karan, Bushra and Sammya. They always come up with something new and creative, and I always look forward to read their work.

20. What is the story behind the name of the blog?
Walking Barefoot on Broken Glass was the name of my Wordpress blog which I started almost seven years ago. Instead of migrating it to Tumblr, I deleted the entire blog and started fresh on Tumblr with it. But for the sake of my readers, I stuck up with the original name.
When I started my blog, I used to write about my experiences and my self-struggle with which I was going through at that time, and thus the name – Walking barefoot on broken glass.

21. Your connection with any Blogger Network like Indi blogger or Writeupcafe or any other and the experience?
I’m very active at Indiblogger and I just love it there. I get inspired a lot by my fellow bloggers. It is a very supportive place!

22. Which genre do you feel gets the raw deal?
I think Personal blogs always get that raw information on a piece of paper (or computer screen)

23. Which one plug-in would you suggest all bloggers to have?
Social media (sharing) plug-in is a must, according to me!

24. Five adjectives that describe you.
Passionate, emotional, dreamer, stargazer, focused.

25. What book would you say has made the biggest impact good or bad on you?
White Oleander by Janet Fitch, no second thought on this one!

26. Do you get easily provoked by positive/negative comments??
Not at all! I take everything very constructively.

27. Do you plan to write a book, as every bloggers dream it is?
My debut novel was published in January 2013 and I’m almost done with my second novel (I’m super excited about it!)

28. Are you a judgmental person, do you prefer to take sides instead of standing neutral?
I don’t judge people, on the basis of anything. I don’t believe that this world is divided into black and white. I always prefer to see that grey area, which often a lot of people fail to even recognize.

29. Your collaboration with other bloggers, are you much into social networking, tell us everything about it?
I used to collaborate a lot when I started blogging, but now I’m very… VERY selective about it. I just find it hard to match up with the sense of sensitivity of a lot of people actually, to be frank! I think I need to evolve myself a lot for that.

30. What genre attracts you the most and which genre you avoid?
I like to read contemporary fiction a lot, and biographies.
I avoid fantasy.

31. Your Views on Contests and increasing plagiarism?
Contests are good, if you write for a couple of them. But then I see some bloggers who blogs only for contests and that just seems like the most irrelevant thing to me sometimes. I participate in contests too, but I never allow my blog to lose its originality because of any contest. If I find that any contest is not relevant to my blog, then I just don’t participate in it. For me the blog comes first. Always.

32. Words for me and my blogs Desire v/s Destiny and Blogger Interviews.
I absolutely love reading your blog and the interviews which you are doing at The Blogger Interviews. It is really a commendable job which you are doing in order to promote fellow bloggers.
Desire v/s Destiny is one of the most thoughtful and versatile blogs that I have come across in a very long time. I absolutely love your tag line! (And the photo posts!)

33. On winning the Award/s, Are they Really necessary.
They are not necessary. But it always feels nice to be appreciated for your work. It acts like a driving force.

The Slave

The SlaveSupernatural

RANK 309
by Rahul Miglani

I never missed a single day. Everyday since her death I visited our sacred place. How could I not? It was the last promise I had made to her. I simply must keep it for as long as I may breath. On every waking morning I must visit this place.
I remember her last words. "This isn't the end for us. I promise that one day I will visit you again. I will await you in our sacred place someday. Please wait for me." It was then I vowed to visit this place every morning. This morning however had a somehow different feel than any other morning. On a normal day I would come here and sit on the bench by the water. As I woud listen to the soft current blowing the waves, greif and depression danced around me. Today however I did not feel sad in the slightest.

Interview with Rajbir Gill

1. Your debut novel has been released recently. How did you feel just prior to the release and after the release?
Answer: - Being a helicopter pilot who has flown for twenty years I am trained to remain calm and quite in all kinds of situations, even life threatening situations. However getting a book published is a different situation, but I took the entire process in my stride. In due course of time everything fell in place and the book was launched one day. The feeling before the launch – let me wait and watch how it unfolds. After the launch - good it is launched now let me get on with the next project...its publicity and sale.

2. Why did you choose to write romantic fiction only?
Answer: - As on today I am sixty four years old, probably that is why you are asking this question. Had I been thirty years old probably you wouldn’t have asked me this question. Love as they say is the elixir of life, so it is but natural that love will find some place in most of the stories. That is the reason why my lag line states, “If it isn’t about love it is not worth writing.”

3. You were a Naval Helicopter Pilot how c
ome you opted to become a writer?

Answer: - After all even service officers do have personal life, moreover they do interact with other like ordinary human beings. Profession is something different and it can be entirely different from a hobby. The two can be poles apart. However it is easy to slip from one to another. As everyone does delve into some hobby I opted to delve into writing.

4. When did you decide to write a book and why this story?
Answer: - I wrote this book about thirteen years back while I was posted on a ship. This story is work of fiction but it is the story of a helicopter pilot’s love affair. I could easily relate to the flying part of it. I am sure everyone can relate to the love part of it. So then one thing led to another and a story was written. I did not get time to get it published. Everything is destined to happen at the right time and right place. So one fine day I met Mr Kunal Marathe, the CEO of Author’s Empire and the book is now in print.

5. Has the story something to do with your personal life?
Answer: - No, not at all. It is work of fiction and is totally a figment of my imagination.

6. Any favourite author? Tell us about the books that you have liked?
Answer: - Wilbur Smith, MM Kaye, Dan Brown. The Far Pavilions by MM Kaye.

7. What is your future plan?

Answer: - After ‘In Pursuit of the Woman’ I am now concentrating on the Hindi translation of In Pursuit of the Woman.

8. What would you like to tell budding writers who have difficulty finding a publisher?
Answer: - Put your heart and soul into writing and then have patience. Good manuscript will get picked up. After it is picked up wait as the day will finally come when you will have your published book in your hands.

9. Would you like to share come comment about your book?
Answer: - Recently I young lady wrote a review of my book. Her one comment, “I would recommend this book to one and all,” was heartening.

10. Do you have any plans to write another novel after this book?

Answer: - I will start concentrating on my second novel after the Hindi translation work of In Pursuit of the Woman is over.

Rahul Miglani : Guys this is the first guest interview on this website and its done by our fellow blogger Dipali Sharma
